Transforming a mundane daily ritual into a revitalising sensory experience, aromatherapy showers are gaining popularity for their ability to promote relaxation, invigoration, and overall well-being. This innovative concept combines the soothing power of water with the therapeutic properties of essential oils to create a truly immersive and rejuvenating shower experience. In this article, we’ll delve into what an aromatherapy shower is and explore the myriad benefits it offers for your physical and mental health.

What is an aromatherapy shower?

An aromatherapy shower is a showering technique that incorporates the use of essential oils to enhance the therapeutic effects of the shower. It involves dispersing essential oil-infused steam into the shower enclosure, allowing you to breathe in the aromatic vapours while you cleanse your body. This simple yet transformative addition to your daily routine can turn an ordinary shower into a holistic wellness experience.

Benefits of Aromatherapy Showers:

      • Stress reduction and relaxation:
The calming scents of essential oils, such as lavender, chamomile, and eucalyptus, can work wonders in reducing stress and promoting relaxation. As the warm water mixes with the essential oil-infused steam, it creates a tranquil environment that soothes your senses and eases tension, making it perfect for unwinding after a long day.

      • Improved Mood:
Aromatherapy showers have the power to uplift your mood and enhance your emotional well-being. Citrus oils like lemon and orange are known for their mood-boosting properties, helping you start your day on a positive note or elevate your spirits when you’re feeling down.

      • Respiratory Health:
Eucalyptus and peppermint essential oils are excellent choices for those seeking relief from congestion and respiratory issues. Inhaling the invigorating steam infused with these oils can help clear nasal passages, making it easier to breathe and leaving you feeling refreshed.

      • Enhanced sleep quality:
Certain essential oils, such as lavender and chamomile, are renowned for their ability to promote restful sleep. An aromatherapy shower in the evening can create a serene atmosphere that encourages better sleep, making it an excellent addition to your bedtime routine.

      • Skin and Hair Benefits:
Aromatherapy showers can also offer benefits for your skin and hair. Essential oils like tea tree and rosemary may help with skin conditions and promote healthy hair by nourishing the scalp and strands.

      • Aromatherapeutic Customisation:
One of the great advantages of aromatherapy showers is the ability to customise your experience based on your needs and preferences. With a wide range of essential oils available, you can tailor your shower to address specific concerns, whether it’s relaxation, energy, or respiratory support.

      • Environmental Friendliness:
Aromatherapy showers are a sustainable choice as they reduce the need for aerosol air fresheners or chemical-based shower products. By harnessing the power of natural essential oils, you can create a fragrant, eco-friendly atmosphere in your bathroom.

    Maximising Your Aromatherapy Shower:

Have a look at our beautiful selection of shower melts, and it’s time to put them to good use! Follow these easy steps to use our shower melts :

    Instructions to use:

        • When it comes to water exposure, it’s best to lightly sprinkle your shower melt to allow it to melt gradually. Direct exposure to a strong water stream can lead to the quick breakdown of the melt, reducing the aromatherapy benefits you experience.

        • The magic of your aromatherapy shower lies in the hot and steamy environment it creates. This steam helps release the essential oils from the steamer, enhancing your shower’s therapeutic effects.

        • To ensure your shower melt is activated and working effectively, keep an eye out for the moment it starts to fizz. This fizzing reaction signifies that the aromatherapy experience is underway.

        • Placing the shower melts closer to your face, like on a soap dish rather than the floor, can intensify the scent, allowing you to fully enjoy the benefits of the essential oils.

          • Warning: Do NOT use them as bath bombs. They are much stronger than bath bombs and can cause severe skin irritation

How long does one shower melt last in a shower?

Our shower steamers can last for one long shower or two quick showers.

        Storage Guidelines:

            • Baking soda has a tendency to absorb moisture from the surrounding air, and this moisture can lead to premature dissolution of your shower melts. To prevent this issue, it’s advisable to store your shower melts in an airtight glass jar or a sealed food storage container.

            • The ideal storage location for your shower melts is a cool, dark area that is shielded from direct sunlight and excess moisture. Suitable options include a cupboard, a drawer, or a container with a tight-fitting lid.

            • Whenever possible, it’s recommended to store your melts outside of the bathroom. Bathrooms tend to be humid and steamy environments, which can trigger the premature breakdown of your melts, as previously mentioned.

            • It’s important to avoid exposing your shower melts to direct sunlight. Ultraviolet (UV) rays from the sun can accelerate the deterioration of essential oils, causing them to lose their effectiveness over time.

          Shelf life

Stored airtight, shower melts will be good for at least a year. Citric acid loses its potency over time, and the scent will fade eventually. Hence, I recommend using your melts within 12 months.
